May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Celebrate James Joyce’s Legacy

at the Corktown Pub on June 16th!

As the Irish Canadian Club of Hamilton gears up for another vibrant celebration of Irish culture, mark your calendars for a special event happening this Father’s Day, June 16th, at the historic Corktown Pub. Join us in commemorating Bloomsday, a day dedicated to honoring the life and work of renowned Irish writer James Joyce.

The Dubliners Dilemma:
A Celebration of Joyce’s Dubliners

At the heart of our Bloomsday celebration is “The Dubliners Dilemma,” a captivating solo performance by the talented Declan Gorman. Drawing inspiration from Joyce’s collection of short stories, “Dubliners,” Gorman brings to life an array of vivid characters, weaving together humor, drama, and poignant moments in a dynamic 50-minute show. From Mumbai to Letterkenny, audiences have embraced Gorman’s portrayal of Joyce’s literary universe, making this performance a must-see event for literature enthusiasts and culture aficionados alike.

To reserve your tickets or learn more about the event, reach out to Ann Gorman-McKinney at agormckinney@gmail.com or call 905-549-9867.

What is Bloomsday?

For those of you who may not be in the know about Bloomsday — Bloomsday, observed annually on June 16th — pays homage to James Joyce and his seminal work, “Ulysses.” This iconic novel unfolds over the course of a single day, June 16th, 1904, capturing the experiences of its protagonist, Leopold Bloom. Notably, June 16th also marks a significant personal milestone for Joyce, as it commemorates his first romantic encounter with Nora Barnacle, who would later become his wife.

Join us for an Unforgettable Literary Journey

Whether you’re a devoted fan of James Joyce or simply eager to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Irish literature, Bloomsday at the Corktown Pub promises an unforgettable experience this year!

Come together with fellow enthusiasts as we celebrate Joyce’s enduring legacy and the timeless allure of Irish culture. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this literary pilgrimage!
