HIA Irish Language Lessons
April 17 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 7:00 pm on day Third of the month, repeating until May 15, 2023

Greetings, Irish Language enthusiasts ! Dia dhuit!
Ryan McKenna here. I am the Irish Language Officer for Hamilton Irish Arts. I just returned from my first trip to Ireland and the music of the Irish Language spoken in shops and on the streets is still singing in my ears. It was wonderful to see signs in both Irish and English much in the same way as we see French and English posted here in Canada. I’m only a beginner with the language but in the town of Cong in County Mayo, I bought an Irish-English dictionary published in 1927 from a charming little bookshop that’s sure to be a conversation-piece on my bookshelf!
It is time for our next Irish Language Lesson! Come enjoy and discover the beauty of the Irish Language through dialogue, poetry and music. Beginners and those with some experience are all welcome!
Lessons are held on the 3rd MONDAY of each month and the teacher will be Róisín Dunsby. We are excited to have her as our instructor. She likes to teach the Language through a cultural approach.
There will be a $10 fee for the evening’s lesson, even to HIA members. This will assist with funding the facilitation of these lessons. We are grateful to the Irish Canadian Club for the use of their facility. HIA Chairperson, Sheila Corr, will be there at 6:30pm to welcome everyone and make the tea! There is no need to pre-register. If you haven’t attended a session yet, no fear! Come as you are and let’s learn about this wonderful aspect of our shared heritage together!
Slán,
Ryan McKenna
