November Irish Immersion and Competitions

As the only recognized Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking area) outside of Ireland, the North American Gaeltacht is inviting you to our virtual Fall Immersion Series, Féile na Samhna

November 2022

Over the course of three weekends, 12-13, 19-20, 26-27 of November 2022, experienced teachers will offer weekend language classes for all levels. As well, a variety of cultural workshops will be offered, giving students the chance to practice their language skills outside the classroom. It is our goal that every learner will be at ease practicing and speaking Irish in a relaxed atmosphere.  We are offering a unique opportunity for immersive learning with classes and a workshop each day through video chat.

The November Immersion Series is the perfect opportunity to have a Gaeltacht experience from wherever you are!

Tentative Workshops: Intro to the Gaelic Literary Arts, Intro to the Gaelic Spoken Arts, Sean Nós Singing, Reading the Gaelic Font and Irish Cursive Writing

Daily Schedule Sat – Sun (ET)
1 pm – 3pm: Online Classes
3:30 pm- 5 pm: Workshops (Sat) / Social Event (Sun)

Class Levels
Level 1 (TEG A1): Acquire the basics.
Level 2 (TEG A2): Improve speaking ability and broaden knowledge of grammar.
Level 3 (TEG B1): Improve fluency, increase vocabulary.
Level 4 (TEG B2): Improve fluency.
Level 5 (TEG C): Speak with other fluent speakers and work on the finer points of the language.

Oireachtas Gaeilge Cheanada

Oireachtas Gaeilge Cheanada is a celebration of Irish traditional song and language, happening virtually on Sunday, November 27th 2022 as a part of Féile na Samhna. With a focus on learners, we welcome participants at all learning levels to both judged (general singing and Sean Nós singing) and non-judged performances.

Unjudged Showcase: Lúibíní/Agallamh Beirte
Unjudged Showcase: Poetry or Story Recitation (ready-chosen)
Unjudged Showcase: Poetry Competition (recited)
To encourage as broad a participation as possible, the Oireachtas will be held online as part of the November Immersion Series.

Come to perform, compete, or show your support for the Irish language. Entry for both viewing and performing/competing are included in the full package.
